Many who received White Rose leaflets handed them in to the Gestapo. The citizens were afraid that the pamphlets were a ploy by the Gestapo to root out dissenters. Others joined the White Rose grew from a group of three students to 300 students within Munich and other German cities. The fifth leaflet, in particular, caused resistances in Freiburg, Hamburg, and elsewhere to form. |
